Intelligent Design Is Revealed Everywhere

“We’re part of a system. This is all a plan.”

January 1, 2021

It’s strange how certain subjects become taboo, divisive, and tough to talk about. Intelligent Design versus Random Creation (Evolution) is a subject that brings up all kinds of different opinions and emotions inside people. Public schools generally teach a belief in a random creation that evolved on its own. Religions (of all kinds) teach that the Universe was created by God or the gods. So, Intelligent Design believes there is a “Source” to life, whereas science believes the Universe either always existed as is or for some unknown reason jumpstarted itself with no source of intelligence and evolved into what it is today. Those are the main schools of thought that explain why we’re here.

To me, this subject is very fascinating, engaging, and important to study. For others, it brings on bad memories of religion and people who use God to control people, manipulate them, or falsely lift themselves up above everyone else because they think they are better than everyone else. I get it. Those are valid fears, but people will abuse anything that’s empowered in society for their own gain. If it wasn’t God they used, it would be a political party, or atheism, or the education system, or anything. So, it’s important to realize that in this kind of discussion emotions have to be left out of the discussion.

Why is this subject important? Well, origins are always important. Think about children who don’t know who their biological parents are. Oftentimes, they wish they could meet them and know whom they have come from. In that same vein, that’s what this whole “where did life come from” discussion is all about. It’s never good to have your origins hidden from you; it’s like kidnapping a child from his or her parents. It’s not good. So then, why was this life created? What’s the purpose? Those are questions that immediately arise if there is Intelligent Design.

Based on the title, clearly, I believe life is intelligently designed. My faith in that belief comes from everything I see around me. Can you ever officially prove life is created by God? No. Can you ever officially prove life is not created by God? No. Both require faith. To me, I start with humans and that’s about all the study I need to be convinced that life is designed. I see the things that people create from the elements in the ground, such as computers, air conditioning, light bulbs, and all the like, and when I see those things I see that none of this is here by accident. All of it is here by design. The fact that the ability to create computers lies right in the dirt, of all places, to me, is pure magic and purposefully given to us as a gift to work with. To think that such wonders come from the dirt we step on is simply mind boggling. That, coupled with the fact that the universe is even more mind boggling complex than our computers, it screams to me that there is a design and a system going on that we’re a part of. Now, we just need to find it!

Interestingly enough, the Bible says in Genesis (it’s first book), that humans are to “have dominion over the earth”. Now, the word “earth” doesn’t mean our planet name, but the dirt itself. We’re told to have dominion over the gold, onyx, trees, plants, etc in the earth (dirt) and use it for our fruitfulness. Of course, it took 1,000s of years since that Scripture was written for people to discover just how many secrets lie in the depths of the dirt, but it was written down 1,000s of years ago for us to know to use what’s in the dirt to have dominion over our planet of dirt. That’s deep, and it’s a 100% fact that is 1,000s of years old. Some mysteries take years to unravel, but they’re still there waiting for us to find. It’s only a matter of whether we have found the mysteries and secrets or not. Things like that are all I need to know to have faith that there is a Grand Designer versus having faith that everything that exists just appeared out of accident. This life, to me, plays out more like a huge piece of art to discover and meddle with, like a video game.

So, we’re left with two choices to reason between. Either the Universe is eternal or the Designer is eternal. That’s what it all comes down to. Something has to be eternal. There’s no getting around it. It’s mind boggling to think about, but something or someone is eternal. Whatever is first is eternal, and something always comes first. There simply is, no matter how hard you try, no way of getting around the fact that something was first and that “first” thing is what we call eternal. So, next time you take a bite out of an apple, you either believe this apple was an accident or it was put there for you to enjoy, and if fruit was put there for you to enjoy, that’s a new way to experience life and understand the nature of God — that he wants things to be enjoyed.

If everything was created by God, then all of this life is here for a purpose and your enjoyment, along with us to understand God’s nature. Whether that be fruit, sunlight, sex, technology, elements of the planet, or anything — it’s a reflection of God’s nature. All that is created, if you have faith that it is purposefully created, is here because it’s a part of God’s nature that he is allowing us to enjoy and know. It is God’s way of communicating to us like an artist-teacher. Nature itself reveals all that we can know about God, how this design works, and how this design also becomes corrupted.

As I see Intelligent Design everywhere and it blesses me, I figured I’d share it with those who might be blessed by it as well. This subject is often controversial, but I don’t believe it needs to be if we simply talk about it matter of factly. It’s only when people push their beliefs on others, instead of intellectually discussing/sharing them, that’s when things become unruly and evil. Hopefully this ARTicle will help you in discussing these big idea matters with others and help us find common ground on life’s biggest questions.
